How do you “Celebrate” Breast Cancer Awareness Month?

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and there are an abundance of activities and ways you can get involved. How do you show your support? Here are some opportunities….

Kansas City Chiefs – Pink out the Stadium for Breast Cancer Awareness. Don your pink gear to show your support. The Chiefs will support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month with several activities for the October 26 game.

Shopping – Purchase gear to help people see that breast cancer is a cause that you support. There are so many choices for pink garb now, the options are endless!

Run/Walk – Find an event near you and hit the pavement to raise money for cancer research and programs. There are other activities as well, Title Boxing Club in Lawrence is holding a Punch A Thon to raise money for Breast Cancer Charities. This event will be Sunday Oct 12th from 10am-2pm.

Pink Fountains – Throughout Kansas City Fountains will run pink as a visual message of support for breast cancer survivors, and to those we have lost and the ongoing struggle to beat the disease.

“The goal of the pink fountains program is to raise awareness that breast cancer can be fought with early screenings and support for research,” said Terry Tsue, MD, physician in chief of The University of Kansas Cancer Center, sponsor of the event. Educate yourself – There is an abundance of lectures, talks, and groups that can educate you on the importance of screenings, healthy living options, and ways to get involved with the breast cancer cause. Check your local hospitals and clinics for a schedule of upcoming events.
